National Young Readers Day!
Last week we celebrated with Book It, National Young Readers Day! Thank you to all of the parents / grandparents / CPCS staff who helped make this day a success.
We started off our day with Mrs. Daniels, who read a book by Patricia Polacco called Lightning in a Jar. She also brought us the materials to make our own lightening jars!
We started off our day with Mrs. Daniels, who read a book by Patricia Polacco called Lightning in a Jar. She also brought us the materials to make our own lightening jars!
We then heard from Mrs. Wellman who read to us about Homer Price, and Mr. Kramer who showed us how Pooh's Corner got his name!
Mr. Kramer even wore a pooh tie for the occasion!
We were then joined by two Grandparents! Mrs. Tysse and Mrs. Umlauf were our last two readers of the day.
We also spent time reading with Mrs. Summerhill's 3 Day Pre-K class, as well as Mrs. Detmar's 3 Day Kindergartners! Throughout the day we also watched the movie, the BFG, which was a book we read together as a whole class.
Overall, it was a great day!

Feast of the Hunter's Moon
Our field trip to Lafayette was a great learning experience for us! Here are a few pictures mixed some comments from the class. Look for more pictures and comments over the next few days.
Mr. Culler taught us how they would use wool in everyday life, as well as give it color.
"I liked Bill Culler, he used an old fashioned wool spinner and he showed us how to dye spun wool."
Our group shot!
An Indiana strayed away from his camp.
He tried to take Mrs. Schutt from us!
The blacksmith showed us how much he could do with metal. We even brought a piece home with us!
"I thought the blacksmith was cool."
"We saw a blacksmith who made a metal S and he twisted it!"
